Lion in Winter

Briton Riviere: Una and the Lion

Roaring against the dying light
The lion stands alone
Caught in the spell of winter dreams
He'll not give up his throne
Chain the earth and chain the sun
Break the hourglass
Make the stars fall into line
Suspend the end of time

No, not tonight
I'll not give in without a fight
And I'll rage against this wind
For even a moment more of the day
I will...

[Chorus:]
Run proud, run free
Never set the sun on me
Race hard play mean
Anger's the symphony of screams

A thousand roses on the hill
A thousand lips to taste
The darkness breathes a hateful sigh
Goes forth to murder dreams
Voices crying cold and dark
My name is in the sky
Shadows lenghten, sun sinks low
The trees are frozen gold

I won't give in!!!

This time around

Elizabeth (Lizzy) Sidal: Lady Affixing a Pennant to a Knight’s Spear

The world around us hangs in doubt
You face a crime that we'll hear about
To pay the cost would never be the same
Eternal lovers we're not to blame
There's no mistake there's no refrain
The same surroundings that stood
Are here again this time

As I look around you can't be found
To lose you I'd rather see
The endless time of space go passing by
This time around
This time around
So look around we all will be found
In love

The world around us hangs in doubt
You face a crime that we'll hear about
To pay the cost would never be the same
Eternal lover you're not to blame
There's no mistake there's no refrain
The same surroundings that stood
Are here again this time

As I look around you can't be found
To lose you I'd rather see
The endless time of space go passing by
This time around
This time around
To lose you I'd rather see
The endless time of space go passing by

Another candle burning down...

Barry Windsor Smith: Blackwater

The days of our future stand in front of us
like a row of little lit candles --
golden, warm, and lively little candles.

The days past remain behind us,
a mournful line of extinguished candles;
the ones nearest are still smoking,
cold candles, melted, and bent.

I do not want to look at them; their form saddens me,
and it saddens me to recall their first light.
I look ahead at my lit candles.

I do not want to turn back, lest I see and shudder
at how fast the dark line lengthens,

at how fast the extinguished candles multiply.

(C. Cavafy - Candles (1899))

(Heir Apparent - Another Candle)

I've seen through times of mystery
And dreamed of truth in history
I can't imagine why we'd let our lives be stole away-
For Armageddon
To be their pawns
And fear their Gods
With no free will - NO!

Another candle burning down
See the flickering light upon the ground
There'll never be a Chosen Few
The ignorant- they never knew
And now the oceans cry
From the fire in the sky
And there's nothing you can do
'Cause the world you've known is through

And now your people cry
At the rivers running dry
And there's nothing you can do
'Cause the world you've known is through

Desire- - the lust for total joy
The Fire- - a world it shall destroy
Fever- - you'll feel it in your mind-
It's the nature of your kind

Lost - the future from your view
The Cost - too high to start anew
Reason - the one thing you ignore-
Could open up the door

Another candle burning down...

Wise man

Zichy,Mihaly: Az emberi tehetetlenseg (Human Helplessness)

I sat before the wise man
In the autumn of my youth
And I told him all
The things I had to know
He said you have the future
If you need to find the truth
And in his eyes
I saw that it was so

So I came right out
And asked him
The meaning of life
And as he smiled
I saw a twinkle in his eyes
He said with all his years
There's still so much
He has to learn
And once again I saw that it was so

Keep on living, loving
Waiting your turn
It's the only way to
Ease your concern
If you want to find
Your dream, be sure
You don't wake up too soon
Or you'll find it easier
Shooting for the moon

Wise man, wise man
Which way shall I run
There's so many roads
So many ways to turn
I am like a blind man
Lost in the sun
I wanna be like you
And be a wise man too
But I'm looking for
An easy way to learn

Proud, on the war we 're standing

Donato Giancola: Faramir at Osgiliath

Hearing Howls Prepare To Fight
Devil Smiles Wants Your Life
Too Much Blood Look At His Knife

Being Soldier 40 Years
Are You Ready Death Appears
Memories And Dreams Kept Inside
Hell And Heaven Seek And Hide

Proud On The War We're Standing
Proud All The Time
The Star Of Our Land Is Shining

Melody and Mist

Sir Edward John Poynter: Melody and mist

In the early morning just at daybreak
I am faced with the steps that I must take
And I know we can't be together
No, not today, tomorrow or forever

As in a dream I turn for a moment
I feel the joy of that our love meant
It hurts to know that we can't be together
Not today, tomorrow or forever

I can only dream now of New York and Paris
And of the days in my grand Moscow palace
I won't forget, I will always remember
Though you are gone, not just for now but forever

We will never forget, Hallelujah, Hallelujah ...

Don't say goodbye my love, our hearts sadly yearning
Can it be true you won't be returning
The way you said we cannot be together
No, not today, tomorrow or forever

And I will live for you in every lonely place
In every moment's sleep I will see your face
But as I reach out and try to touch your hand
You're not there, Oh God, how can I understand

And so farewell to a love so forsaken
A sad hello to the steps fate has taken
The cards are down, we cannot be together
But I will treasure your memory forever

The book is closed now, we cannot be together
But in our hearts we'll have each other forever
We'll live apart with love together forever
We'll live apart but love together forever

Alive but dead...

Arthur Hughes: The Pained Heart (aka 'Sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more')

As I walk the streets I feel no pain,
There is no love or hate, can¹t see no certain state I¹m in.
And a hog laid itself on my heart
Like this misty morning as this cloudy day begins.
Still I wonder should I be afraid
About what¹s happening and how long has it been - don¹t know.
Why did come this shadow in my head
Like I have lost my soul, like I¹m alive but dead.
As I walk the streets I feel no fear,
Although I notice that there is no feeling anymore.
And I try to send my mind back to the times
When I was able to live something to the core.
Dark, dark as the grave, my heart is dead,
I¹m just a slave to what they¹ve said. (this decay)
Still I¹m alive but I feel dead.
Dark, dark as the grave, my heart is dead
I¹m just a slave to when you call. (my disease)
Still I¹m alive but I must be dead.
Alive but dead
Can¹t fill my head
Darkness, there¹s darkness everywhere
You gotta help me out of here,
I don¹t want to stay alive without the capability to feel!

Can't let you go

George Frederic Watts: Orpheus and Eurydice

Day after day I keep waking up
To find that you're slipping away
Night after night
I can't fight the emptiness inside
Nothing I can say
Now I know you're turning me away
You're wearing a disguise
You don't have to hide cause
The truth is in your eyes tonight
I don't want to live a lie
But I don't want to say goodbye
And I can't let you go even though it's over
I just can't let you go
Though your love is growing colder
One look in my eyes and you'd realize
That you got my heart in your hands
Won't you let me know something more
Where did we go wrong?
I don't want to fight
All I want to do is try to understand
I'm reaching out for you babe
What can I do
I've been holding on so long
I don't want to live a lie
But I don't want to say goodbye
I can't let you go
Even though it's over
I just can't let you go
I feel your love is growing colder
I don't want to live a lie
But I don't want to say goodbye
I want you by my side
And I can't let you go
Even though it's over
I just can't let you go
I feel your love is growing colder
I can't let you go even though it's over

Don't let me be misunderstood

Frank Cadogan Cowper: Vanity

Baby, do you understand me now?
Sometimes I feel a little mad
But don't you know that no one alive can always be an angel
When things go wrong I feel real bad.

I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

Baby, sometimes I'm so carefree
With a joy that's hard to hide
And sometimes it seems that, all I have to do is worry
And then you're bound to see my other side

I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

If I seem edgy, I want you to know,
That I never mean to take it out on you
Life has its problems, and I get my share,
And that's one thing I never mean to do

Cause I love you,
Oh,

Oh, oh, oh, baby - don't you know I'm human
I have thoughts like any other one
Sometimes I find myself, Lord, regretting
Some foolish thing, some little simple thing I've done

I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
Yes, I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood
Yes, I'm just a soul whose intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

Yes, I'm just a soul whose intentions are good

And ask ye why these sad tears stream?

Frederick William Pomeroy: The Nymph of Loch Awe

And ask ye why these sad tears stream?
Why these wan eyes are dim with weeping?
I had a dream–a lovely dream,
Of her that in the grave is sleeping.

I saw her as ’twas yesterday,
The bloom upon her cheek still glowing;
And round her play’d a golden ray,
And on her brows were gay flowers blowing.

With angel-hand she swept a lyre,
A garland red with roses bound it;
Its strings were wreath’d with lambent fire
And amaranth was woven round it.

I saw her mid the realms of light,
In everlasting radiance gleaming;
Co-equal with the seraphs bright,
Mid thousand thousand angels beaming.

I strove to reach her, when, behold,
Those fairy forms of bliss Elysian,
And all that rich scene wrapt in gold,
Faded in air–a lovely vision!

And I awoke, but oh! to me
That waking hour was doubly weary;
And yet I could not envy thee,
Although so blest, and I so dreary.

(Alfred Lord Tennyson)

Will you dream with me tonight?!

John Anster Fitzgerald: The Artist's Dream

There's a faerie in my head and I call her Lady Rosenred
Why she came there I don't know, no I don't know

We wander worlds sometimes
Green forests, stars and stories
A secret time under three moons

We walk the clouds at times
And ride on dragon faeries
A drink with friends under three moons

Say will you dream with me tonight, under moonlit skies

We run the hills sometimes
Do battles upon evil
A bard so sings within the shadows

We turn the ghosts around
And jam with angry mages
A silent dream within the shadows

Say will you dream with me tonight, under moonlit skies

And then we turn around
And find all forests gone
And find all stars and stories gone

And then we turn around
And find all faeries gone
And find all dragons faeries gone

Say will you dream with me tonight

We should work it out...

Boris Vallejo: Mistress

What happens when the curtain falls
And the last note is struck
Who in world do I wake up for
And to who do I make my love

I cried for you with the forest
Beg my soul but nobody heard
I cried a thousands songs for you 're all into one
And now i can't remember a single word

Music stops and the world keeps spinning round
I favour you and I should work it out
Wish we could work it out
Come on baby
Wish we could work it out
Let's work it out
Wish we could work it out
I ditch you darling
Work it out
I think we should work it out

Well it's clear you've lost your love for me
And you lost for another girl's heart
But who's gonna clean your mess or put you to bed
When you've been drinking too much

I'm hoping any moment i wake to find this is all this is all been a dream
You all over in your king size bed
Babe I'm your sleeping I'm your sleeping queen

Music stops and the world keeps spinning round
I favour you and i should work it out
Wish we could work it out
Come on baby
Wish we could work it out
We can work it out
Wish we could work it out
I need you darling
Wish we could work it out
Come on work it out
I wanna scream
Babe I wanna scream

Righteous Glory!

Donato Giancola: Joan of Arc

She is watching
From on high
She knows who lives or dies
She will take me to the sky

Should darkness be my fate
Then let me fall among brave
In battle I shall die
In righteous glory I abide

In righteous glory she'll come to me tonight
She will carry me across the other side
My brothers wait
Odin knows my name
In the hall of the slain

She takes me through the clouds
To another place and time
Holds me in her arms
Immortal and divine

On hooves of thunder
Her white horse parts the sky
Take me to Valhalla
Valkyrie mine

In righteous glory she'll come to me tonight
She will carry me across the other side
My brothers wait
Odin knows my name
In the hall of the slain

(Manowar - Righteous Glory)
