Tokyo nights

Last night when I was laying in my bed
Had a dream of a flag in white & red
Swiss cross turned into the japan dot
A yellow girl appeared and made me hot

She took me to her place - a Geisha house
There was tea rice-booze & ceremony
I got undressed she had me washed
I felt her body and I was lost

Tokyo nights hot burning lights
Tokyo nights you took my mind away
Made me obsessed by loving fights

Soon I remembered I stayed in a dream
And I could make a try to change the scene
The geisha girl was just too hot for me
I tried to wake up unsuccessfully

And even as the big alarm-clock rang
Outside my window the first blackbird sang
My yellow girlfriend didn't leave my head
Got to stay forever in her bed

Tokyo nights hot burning lights
Tokyo nights you took my mind away
I'm in the spell of your delights

Pact with the devil...

Giovanni Baglione: Sacred and profane love

"Derived from the Psychomachia of Prudentius, the moralizing theme of combat between the vices and the virtues was interpreted by Virgil in "Omnia vincit Amor". Later codified by Petrarch, the theme enjoyed a new popularity in the early seventeenth century. The face of the figure of the devil at the left has been identified as a portrait of Caravaggio. This canvas includes a satirical condemnation of both Caravaggio's art and his moral scruples, making what is tantamount to a visual charge of sodomy. Divine Love interrupts a tryst between Cupid and the Devil, who turns toward the viewer in anguished surprise revealing Caravaggio's likeness."

Too young to fall in love

You say our love
Is like dynamite
Open your eyes
'Cause it's like fire and ice
Well you're killing me
Your love's a guillotine
Why don't you just set me free

[Chorus:]
Too young to fall in love
I'm too young
Too young to fall in love
I'm too young
Too young to fall in love

I'm too young
Too young to fall in love
I'm too young
Too young to fall in love
I'm too young
Too fall in love

Run for the hills
We're both sinners and saints
Not a woman, but a whore
I can just taste the hate
Well now I'm killing you
Watch your face turning blue
Not yet a man
Just a punk in the street

You say our love
Is like dynamite
Well it's no surprise
Cause you've got one-way eyes
Well you're killing me
Your love's a guillotine
Not yet a man
Just a punk in the street

Pick the flower now before the chance is past...

J.W. Waterhouse: The awakening of Adonis

So you little Italian devils, you want to know about love
Saraghina will tell you. If you want to make a woman happy, you lie on what you’re born with, because it is in your blood.

Be Italian
Be Italian
take a chance and try to steal a fiery kiss
be Italian
be Italian
when you hold me don’t just hold me but hold this
please be gentle, sentimental
go ahead and try to give my cheek a pat
but be daring and uncaring

when you pinch me try to pinch me where there’s fat
HA!
be a singer be a lover
pick the flower now before the chance is past
be Italian
be Italian
live today as if it may become your last!
Hey!
be a singer be a lover
pick the flower now before the chance is past
be Italian
be Italian
live today as if it may become your last!

Window of my eyes

Through the window of my eyes
I can see a rainy day
Sittin' in the chair of my own
Looking for a way to be the one who I am
It's useless to cry for the things I was unknown
Thinking it will come back and reach my home

It's like a distant, like a distant face
It's like a shadow on my wall
Something that, that I can't touch
It's heavenly, as it calls

Shelter of my mind hides my love and my tear
I keep on looking for a reason which is not here

Through the window of my eyes
I can see a rainy day
Sittin' in the chair of my own
Looking for a way to be the one who I am
It's useless to cry for the things I was unknown
Thinking it will come back and reach my home

A l' ombre de Monaco (Vacation memories)

View from La Turbie

Lui :
Monaco,

Time will find the answer...

Jeffrey Jones: The ages of woman

Into the shadows of the night
They fought the war that would never die
Now the sun never shines
Can't find the key that's lost in time

And the wind calls your name for you only
But she would never return
And I long to hear your voice
As I watch the endless fire burn

Now the kings and queens of long ago
Could never have forseen
Will they rise and fall
Only time will tell
Twisted on battleground so green

Time will find the answer
Time will find you
Walking through the fields

Into the storm where the soldiers lie
Black skies are gathering around
Where men fought and they lost
As they fall silent to the ground

Only time it will heal
Stop your crying
I'll so on be on my way
And I can hear your voice
Through the trees in the morning light

Now the autumn leaves are falling
As the winter closes in
Through the morning mist
Only walk the brave
They only fight to win

Now the autumn leaves are falling
As winter closes in
Will they rise or fall
Only time will tell
They only fight to win

Adagio

John William Godward: Absence makes the heart grow fonder

I don't know where to find you
I don't know how to reach you
I hear your voice in the wind
I feel you under my skin
Within my heart and my soul
I wait for you
Adagio
All of these nights without you
All of my dreams surround you
I see and I touch your face
I fall into your embrace
When the time is right I know
You'll be in my arms
Adagio
I close my eyes and I find a way
No need for me to pray
I've walked so far
I've fought so hard
Nothing more to explain
I know all that remains
Is a piano that plays
If you know where to find me
If you know how to reach me
Before this light fades away
Before I run out of faith
Be the only man to say
That you'll hear my heart
That you'll give your life
Forever you'll stay
Don't let this light fade away
Don't let me run out of faith
Be the only man to say
That you believe, make me believe
You won't let go
Adagio

Empty rooms...

J.W.Waterhouse: Listening to my sweet pippings

Loneliness is your only friend.
A broken heart that just won't mend
is the price you pay.

It's hard to take when love grows old.
The days are long and the nights turn cold
when it fades away.

You hope that she will change her mind,
but the days drift on and on.
You'll never know the reason why she's gone.

You see her face in every crowd.
You hear her voice, but you're still proud,
so you turn away.

You tell yourself that you'll be strong.
But your heart tells you,
this time you're wrong.

You hope that she will change her mind,
but the days drift on and on.
You'll never know the reason why she's gone.

Empty rooms,
where we learn to live without love.
Empty rooms,
where we learn to live without love.
Empty rooms,
where we learn to live without love.

Empty rooms,
where we learn to live without love.
Empty rooms,
where we learn to live without love.
Empty rooms,
where we learn to live without love.
Empty rooms,
where we learn to live without love.

All alone in an empty room.
Lonliness is your only friend, hooh.
Oh, she's gone and you're at the end.

Brucia la terra...

In Cinqueterre, on the path of love between Manarola and Riomaggiore...
Via dell'amore... over the sea... Locks of eternal love everywhere around...
Vows of eternal love written on the rocks...

(English)
The moon is burning in the sky
And I am burning with love
The fire that is consumed
Like my heart

My soul crys
Painfully

I'm not at peace
What a terrible night

The time passes
But there is no dawn
There is no sunshine
If she doesn't return

My earth is burning
And my heart is burning
What she thirsts for water
I thirst for love

Who will I sing
My song to

If there is no one
Who shows herself
On the balcony

The moon is burning in the sky
And I am burning with love
The fire that is consumed
Like my heart

(Cicilian)

Brucia la luna n'cielu
E ju bruciu d'amuri
Focu ca si consuma
Comu lu me cori

L'anima chianci
Addulurata

Non si da paci
Ma cchi mala nuttata

Lu tempu passa
Ma non agghiorna
Non c'e mai suli
S'idda non torna

Brucia la terra mia
E abbrucia lu me cori
Cchi siti d'acqua idda
E ju siti d'amuri

Acu la cantu
La me canzuni

Si no c'e nuddu
Ca s'a affacia
A lu barcuni

Brucia la luna n'cielu
E ju bruciu d'amuri
Focu ca si consuma
Comu lu me cori

Walking in the air...

John Duncan: St Bride

Where the wild roses grow...

John Everett Millais: Ophelia

They call me The Wild Rose
But my name was Elisa Day
Why they call me it I do not know
For my name was Elisa Day
From the first day I saw her I knew she was the one
As she stared in my eyes and smiled
For her lips were the colour of the roses
They grew down the river, all bloody and wild
When he knocked on my door and entered the room
My trembling subsided in his sure embrace
He would be my first man, and with a careful hand
He wiped the tears that ran down my face
CHORUS
On the second day I brought her a flower
She was more beautiful than any woman I'd seen
I said, 'Do you know where the wild roses grow
So sweet and scarlet and free?'
On the second day he came with a single rose
Said: 'Will you give me your loss and your sorrow?'
I nodded my head, as I lied on the bed
He said, 'If I show you the roses will you follow?'
CHORUS
On the third day he took me to the river
He showed me the roses and we kissed
And the last thing I heard was a muttered word
As he stood smiling above me with a rock in his fist
On the last day I took her where the wild roses grow
And she lay on the bank, the wind light as a thief
As I kissed her goodbye, I said, 'All beauty must die'
And lent down and planted a rose between her teeth

Diamonds and Rust

J.W.Waterhouse: Hylas and the nymphs (detail)

I'll be damned
Here comes your ghost again
But that's not unusual
It's just that the moon is full
And you happened to call
And here I sit
Hand on the telephone
Hearing a voice I'd known
A couple of light years ago
Heading straight for a fall

As I remember your eyes
Were bluer than robin's eggs
My poetry was lousy you said
Where are you calling from?
A booth in the midwest
Ten years ago
I bought you some cufflinks
You brought me something
We both know what memories can bring
They bring diamonds and rust

Well you burst on the scene
Already a legend
The unwashed phenomenon
The original vagabond
You strayed into my arms
And there you stayed
Temporarily lost at sea
The Madonna was yours for free
Yes the girl on the half-shell
Would keep you unharmed

Now I see you standing
With brown leaves falling around
And snow in your hair
Now you're smiling out the window
Of that crummy hotel
Over Washington Square
Our breath comes out white clouds
Mingles and hangs in the air
Speaking strictly for me
We both could have died then and there

Now you're telling me
You're not nostalgic
Then give me another word for it
You who are so good with words
And at keeping things vague
Because I need some of that vagueness now
It's all come back too clearly
Yes I loved you dearly
And if you're offering me diamonds and rust
I've already paid

Drink the last drops of summer...

Sleeping faun or drunken satyr (2nd/3rd c. BC)

(To Spiros and Haris)

My eyes grew heavy and my lips they could not speak
I tried to get up but I couldn't find my feet
She reassured me with an unfamilliar line
And then she gave to me more summer wine

Oohh-oh summer wine

Strawberries cherries and an angel's kiss in spring
My summer wine is really made from all these things
Take off your silver spurs and help me pass the time
And I will give to you summer wine

Oohh-oh summer wine

A tale that wasn't right

J.W. Waterhouse: My sweet rose

Here I stand all alone
Have my mind turned to stone
Have my heart filled up with ice
To avoid It's breakin' twice

Thanx to you, my dear old friend
But you can't help. this is the end
Of a tale that wasn't right
I won't have no sleep tonight

In my heart, in my soul
I really hate to pay this toll
Should be strong, young and bold
But the only thing I feel is pain

It's alright, we'll stay friends
Trustin' In my confidence
And Iet's say it's just alright
You won't sleep alone tonight

In my heart, in my soul
I really hate to pay this toll
Should be strong, young and bold
But the only thing I feel is pain

With my heart, with my soul
Some guys cry you bought and sold
They've been strong, young and bold
And they say, play this song again

In my heart, in my soul
I really hate to pay this toll
Should be strong, young and bold
But the only thing I feel is pain

Lamento eroico

William Bouguereau: The first mourning

Langue in me l'eco infranto
Al truce sguardo dell'angelo cieco
Rovina in me l'antica rima
Nel cuor del cigno ferito e morente...

Cosmi di eternita' tradita
Di verita' svanite che ora versano
Lacrime d'addio in un vuoto nero...
Sincero e fiero al mio destino andro'...

URLA IL TUONO
AL MIO LAMENTO EROICO
SORTE...

Cosi' continuero'!

URLA IL TUONO
AL MIO LAMENTO EROICO
SORTE... CONSUMA LA REALTA'!

URLA IL TUONO
AL MIO LAMENTO EROICO
SORTE... CONSUMA LA REALTA'!

CONSUMA LA REALTA'!

SORTE... CONSUMA LA REALTA'!

The passion of Joan

J.E. Millais: Joan of Arc

D.G. Rossetti: joah of arc kissing the sword of deliverance

Fly to the rainbow (ssshhhhhhhhhhhh...) ...

Valentine Cameron Prinsep: The first awakening of eve

Life is empty, can't remember anytime before,
On a plain lit cold December, see it evermore,
Gliding through this life, and another is a child,
and we're doing games, and losing things,
Always playing gigs.
Somewhere in the sky, where the moon the stars shine bright,
Where the sun is shining, in the night.
I am in disgrace, yet i see a smiling face,
and i hope you let me, share your place.
I don't live today.

Rain in the sky , make the world fly,
Into time, beg me your time.
Sun in the sky, make the world fly,
Into time, beg me your time.

Rain in the sky , make the world fly,
Into time, beg me your time.
Sun in the sky, make the world fly,
Into time, beg me your time.

Rain in the sky , make the world fly,
Into time, beg me your time.
Sun in the sky, make the world fly,
Into time, beg me your time.

Well, I lived in magic solitude
Of cloudy-looking mountains
And a lake made out of crystal raindrops ...
Roaming through Space tenthousand years ago
I've seen the giant city of Atlantis
Sinking to eternal waves of darkness ...

Somewhere in the blue distance
Are those long-forgotten trees of yore
A broken violin floating alone in December
Darkness everywhere and nothing more.

Symbol - strange Symbol - Melancholy
Painting torrid colors to a sky of green
Candle breathing one night only
Far away - in chillness - bleak - unseen ...

Drifting galley - ghostlike shadow,
Sails rigged to catch and kill the Time...
Echoes wandering down an endless meadow
To call the Thing ... Sublime !...

Stairway to heaven

Sir Edward Burne Jones: The golden stairs

This painting is an example of Edward Burne-Jones’s interest in investigating a mood rather than telling a story. The underlying idea is that ‘all the arts aspire to the condition of music’.

"Eγώ χωρίς μουσική...
δεν ξέρω!
δεν μπορώ να με φανταστώ! "

Victim of fate

John Collier: Lady Godiva

I was born in the rotten part of the town
The biggest trap I had seen
Wherever you'll go and wherever you'll get to
Evil is around

My mother's a bitch, my father's a killer
Gettin' paid for a murder
Fightin' and strugglin' the whole day
The only way to survive

Wanted from law but they'll never catch me
I'd much rather die in this bloody war

Fly high touch the sky
Never know the reason why it ends
Victim of fate
Fly high touch the sky
Never know the reason why it ends
Victim of fate

I had to kill people to save my own life
I don't wanna go to hell
I started at the bottom
I'm heading for the top

I'll never return I'll never go back
To the goddamn part of the town
Headhunters won't get me 'cause I'm not stupid
But this ain't the life I dreamt of

Wanted from law but they'll never catch me
I'd much rather die in this bloody war

What now lonely man
Who's standing in the shadow of the streets
You're left alone with no helpin' hand beside you
You hide from the daylight livin' in darkness
You got no friends you can trust nobody
Except for yourself

The only shade that's beside you
Is the shade of Lucifer
Laughing with a satanic smile
And his friend death sharpens his sickle
You don't wanna die do you?
But you will, you will burn in hell

Fly high touch the sky
You will die

Slow dancer

Herbert Draper: Lamia

love in a hut, with water and a crust,
Is - Love, forgive us! - cinders, ashes, dust;
Love in a palace is perhaps at last
More grievous torment than a hermit's fast -
That is a doubtful tale from faery land,
Hard for the non-elect to understand.
Had Lycius liv'd to hand his story down,
He might have given the moral a fresh frown,
Or clench'd it quite: but too short was their bliss
To breed distrust and hate, that make the soft voice hiss.
Besides, there, nightly, with terrific glare,
Love, jealous grown of so complete a pair,
Hover'd and buzz'd his wings, with fearful roar,
Above the lintel of their chamber door,
And down the passage cast a glow upon the floor.
(John Keats - Lamia excerpt)

Liebestraum

John Duncan: Tristan and Izolde

(Extract: Tristram of Lyonesse by Algernon Charles Swinburne)
So sore a part of sorrow.” And the king
Built for their tomb a chapel bright like spring
With flower-soft wealth of branching tracery made
Fair as the frondage each fleet year sees fade,
That should not fall till many a year were done.
There slept they wedded under moon and sun
And change of stars: and through the casements came
Midnight and noon girt round with shadow and flame
To illume their grave or veil it: till at last
On these things too was doom as darkness cast:
For the strong sea hath swallowed wall and tower,
And where their limbs were laid in woful hour
For many a fathom gleams and moves and moans
The tide that sweeps above their coffined bones
In the wrecked chancel by the shivered shrine:
Nor where they sleep shall moon or sunlight shine
Nor man look down for ever: none shall say,
Here once, or here, Tristram and Iseult lay:
But peace they have that none may gain who live,
And rest about them that no love can give,
And over them, while death and life shall be,
The light and sound and darkness of the sea.

Morphine child

Luis Royo: White angel

There's a thief on a summer's night
Across an ocean
Who sees another's life fading away

And of this life he writes
Without emotion
Then pushes it from sight
Somewhere faraway
To a distant land
Every tear betrayed
And never makes
And never makes
And never makes
And never makes a stand
never Makes a stand
Lord there's something wrong
never Makes a stand

Could a star's forgotten light
A child's devotion
Embrace eternal night
In shallow graves

As we watch from distant heights
No breath or motion
Still every ghost must haunt in its own way
Sleep beneath my dreams
Safe within my hands
Where I never under
Never under
Never understand

Lord there's something wrong

No one remembers
No one denies
No one asks questions
No one replies

Here nothing enters
Nothing departs
Here nothing's ended
If nothing starts

In your life could you carry on
Could you never think about it
Till in time you start to doubt it

Then you close your eyes
Is it really gone
How in truth can you defend her
If you're really not remembering

No regrets
If you just forget
If a memory is lenient
You can find it most convenient
So you let it fade
Till it's very vague
Just a silhouette of shadows
But the shadows are still lingering

Still I hold you there
With your endless stare

I'm too old to be living this
Lived to long to be given this
Can our god be forgiving this

I had a light that shined
Across my mind
Rarely see it any more

Now it is mostly dark
Except for sparks
Can't remember what they're for

I am the morphine child
The dream defiled
The never ending metaphor
I am the wizard oz
Result and cause
Never look behind that door

Cantations
Cantations
Cantations
Cantations

Never listen to the crowd before me
Never listen to the self ordained
Never really wanted to believe it any way

Time is fading
Night is calling
I am on my way

Turn around turn around
Turn around turn around

Time is fading
Night is calling
I am on my...
